BUBBAS IGNITION - I'm speachless!
Some time ago I decided to buy a spare condensor. I wrote to Bubba's asking about shipment to Russia, gave my shipping address and started to wait for a shipping quote. I got busy with other things, then I went on a trip to Belarus to take part in Retro Minsk meet of classic cars. I never got a reply, figured that my order is small, they are busy, oh well.
Can you imagine my suprise when after coming back from 1100 miles road trip I saw a package waiting for me - a condensor from Bubba's!!! What an outstanding way of doing business! Thanks a lot and my deepest respect! |

Are these classics, Russian made cars or just classic cars. I am not at all familiar with Russian made cars, must be interesting.

Some of the cuban american classic cars were fixed with Russian car engine parts. Fitting Russian forklift pistons in a SBC was probably interesting. Most of those cuban cars are held together with whatever was around. Performance was not the objective. Gas and Running was... Friend gave me this street painting when being in havana a few yrs ago. Re: BUBBAS IGNITION - I'm speachless!
My Wife and I went to Cuba and stayed in Havana. Take a look at my Blog of some of the cars! www.1948fordpickup.blogspot.ca.
The most common in the outback on the dirt roads and the rural areas was the 49-52 Dodge and Plymouth. Next was 53-54 Chevs. Interesting very few Fords? Lots of fancy cars from 55 to 58 converts owned by the rich in Havana before the revolution. Now owned by family of the second owners and kept as tourist cars. These people are probably the better paid in the country as there is a wage paid to all which is the same. They live on tips by tourists. |

It makes sense, it's an island and only cars from people that could afford it made it in. Ford was more a working mans car.

Back to the condensor from Bubba...it's hearing things that happen like this that makes this hobby so good to be part of.

Re: BUBBAS IGNITION - I'm speachless!
I guess you can call it classic - it's Soviet-made Volga GAZ 21, a car that was produced from 1956 to 1970. It usually had 2.4 l inline 4 cylinder engine, 3 speed manual tranny. It was very popular that time and nowadays it has a strong fan movement (Mr. Putin owns one). Of course, American car making heritage and experience played a big role (Ford built the first car factory for bolsheviks Russia!). When Volga was being designed they studied 1954 Ford Mainline, 1954 Plymouth Savoy, 1953 Chevrolet 210 DeLuxe and some other American cars.

Jim (Bubba), and a few others on this site are what makes this hobby special. Thanks to the folks who do it right. You are a BLESSING to us all.
Now that the news is out I hope Bubba doesn't "just disappear>" |
