8ba internal breather pipe
I was ordering various small stuff for my 276 8BA from Mac Vanpelt and asked if he had an internal vent pipe (goes in the lifter valley) on hand, and he said yes but that he thought there were two different lengths, 35-48 and 49-53, but not sure which was which, but he has both. He's holding my order till I get back to him. CAN ANYONE WEIGH IN ON THIS?
Thank you!

Re: 8ba internal breather pipe
I have a ‘38 block that measures 4 1/2 from down in the valley to the intake surface. An 8 BA block I have measures 4 3/4 from the valley to the intake surface. Measurements taken from the edge of the hole where the vent tube goes in to the gasket surface.......Mark

Re: 8ba internal breather pipe
Yes the 49 to 53 is linger. There is a recess in the intake manifold that it fits up into.

Jack, thanks for the confirmation. I ended up working with a fella a bit closer to home for me, his name is Dave Martin, said he knows you too.

Re: 8ba internal breather pipe
Here's a photo of the 8BA vent pipe without and with old gasket. Top of vent pipe protrudes just above the gasket. Engine is 239 cu. in. 8BA with early style heads. The new gasket is a BEST brand intake gasket #21005E bought here:
https://vintagegasket.com/product-ca...duct_view=grid USPS shipping was $8.89 for a total of $23.83. Last edited by 19Fordy; 08-23-2022 at 12:01 PM. |

Re: 8ba internal breather pipe
Shoebox: I applied a thin coating of grease to gasket to make it easier to replace the next time. Torqued intake bolts to 25 ft. lb. Ford torque specs are 23-28 ft. lbs.
