Default 1930 Roadster steering tube color?

Just bought a '30 Deluxe Roadster and going over the car, correcting some things that weren't not right, unfinished, etc. One thing caught my attention that looked odd was the steering tube and spark & throttle levers had been painted body color (tan). Shouldn't the steering tube be black? Also, I thought the control levers were chrome or nickel plate. I'd like to correct this if it's wrong.
Thanks.

You are correct on both accounts.

The steering gear box, column, 2 springs, 2 levers are all dipped gloss black enamel. The clamp above the gear box is cadmium plated and the upper ends of the spark and throttle rods are bright nickel plated.
I would recommend that you purchase the Restoration Guidelines from either MARC or MAFCA. All the information you will ever want to know are in them.

Bill C,
Thanks for chiming in with the info. I think I need the information from the national clubs you mentioned.
