Default Great New Year's gift

Guess what I get for a New Year's gift? A battery!!
So, does anybody have experience with recently made Optima batteries? I've read several threads about how good the old ones were, but there seems to be some questions about the new ones.
So, please let me know your experience with the newer ones. Thanks
Royal

I'm on my second. The first one lasted 13 years, and this one is on it's fourth year. I hear they had some problems when they first moved their factory to Mexico about 10 years ago, but I think they have that straightened out now. There are lots of threads about this on the H.A.M.B., and what stood out for me was that a Marketing VP from Johnson Controls (the manufacturer) participated in them and seemed to be genuinely interested in making sure they have a good product.

I have had no problems with old and new Optimas. I do keep them on battery tenders while they are in the cars (4).

Running 6v pos grnd in mine and the battery was about 4 years old when I stopped for breakfast and forgot to turn my headlights off. I realized when I got to the car but it still started. Took a good 50 miles to get voltage back to normal.

Thanks for the replies. I'm considering a AGM rectangular battery.

Have one in my coupe. Three batteries in twenty years. Always changed them before they died.
