Default 34 cowl lamp mounted outside mirror

Is there a source yet for a 34 behind the cowl lamp mounted outside mirror?

OK, I understand first hand, the need for an effective outside mirror for our '33's and '34's and I will move ahead to manufacture such an item. I do not want to bother to make an item that is commercially available.

I assume that most owners are like me and would like to have a mirror that both looks period and is effective but I would prefer to make a product that is close, at least, to a mirror that was offered from the factory or was an approved Ford accessory. I am not aware of any mirror that was supplied from the factory or as an accessory. If anyone knows of such an item I would like to see one or, at least, have a picture of it.

It's a great idea! I'd be interested in purchasing such a mirror or two as well....

I have a clamp on mirror on my 33,its great.
It mounts onto the front edge of the for,BUT does not clamp up in the usual way with screws that stick out inside,it has no screws protruding to damage the paint on the door and the door pillar.
I was going to make another but got too busy,
I will do a drawing if any one is interested

I have the clamp on door mirrors and all they do is mess up the paint. The idea of the swan neck mirror that mounts under the Cowl light has appeal - It looks correct and won't require any additional holes and won't chew up my doors -Karl

Karl, the one on my 33 does NOT mess up the paint,as I said it has a funny clamp arrangement that does,t have any screws digging into the paint.I will post a pic .

My only concern is what keeps the arm from turning in the wind "at speed"?

When I showed our engineer a photo of this mirror bracket that mounts to the cowl light your comment was exactly what he said. Not exactly sure how we will address this issue yet but we will design the fix into any mirror we produce.

I had planed to make a pair and I thought about a small pin next to the hole or key way for that purpose. I'll send a pm to fordcpe and ask if he would comment on this issue.

Make the hole dropshaped or a keyway the rubber will keep it in place.
Maybe the friction from the rubberseal will take care of it as is ?

The mirrors that I made for my car and my friends car have never moved. We have been on some long trips 3 to 4 hours at a time on highways at speeds of 60 to 65 mph they don't move. They are mounted between to cowl rubber gaskets Darrell
