Banjo Rear

Just finished changing my 4.11 gears over to 3.54's. I used Tom Endy's article as my guide and it was a very easy job but time consuming.
This is the second model A rear I have done and as indicated in Tom's article the rear is easiest to build in a vise (he recommends a wood vise ) with the rear standing on end.
Since I rebuild Ford 9" rears from time to time I have a $39.00 bench stand from Speedway made for a 9". So I decided to see if it could be modified to hold the Model A rear. A little angle iron some 3.5" muffler clamps and some welding gave me a very usable stand that made the job much easier than the first time I did it.
I'll post some pictures of the finished product.
For some reason my computer posts pictures upside down from time to time so if that happen I apologize if that happens.

Here ya go. I use a photo edit program within MS Office,you probably have something similar in your system. I made them a little bigger too once opened from the thumbnail. ( Edit, looks like Ryan has the auto size limiter turned on so they won't go any bigger even with the double click.)

Save the 4.11 gears as I feel they are the best ratio if you are going to install an overdrive.Both my A,s have 4.11,s with 2.94 OD.If I had retained 3.78,s it would have been too high geared in OD for my likeing and I wouldnt use OD as often as I do.This way I get the benefit of added power & speed.

Columbia, my car is an off topic car. It's very light and has a t-5 5 speed. My engine is currently with Mr. James Rodgers having some machining issues corrected. It puts out about 80-90 hp and really gets my roadster going.
The 4.11 were not a good match with the 3.27 first gear in the trans and are really not needed being that the car is so light. The .74 overdrive and 3.54 rear will have the car zipping down the road at highway speeds while turning a comfortably low rev.
Besides a member here needs them so he will be getting them. Your points are well taken and in a heavier car with overdrive the 4.11 would be the ticket.
