Default Crankshaft ID

A friend of mine gave me a crank out of a Ford flathead 4 cylinder that he found.
He presumed that it was a "B" motor because of the fact that it is counter weighted. Don't know about a fuel pump boss or any diamond
I found some markings on the crank and they are as follows; the letter S is found in at least two locations as well as the number 1.
Also found was FS9 stamped into part of the crank, the 9 appears to have been a 7 that was stamped over with a 0 to make it a 9. That's all that I can find.
Any ideas as to what I have ?

Pete

Rod and mains will be bigger than an A. there were two kinds of counterweights, one cast in one piece and the other pinned on. If you look at the weights and they look like they will inhibit the rod journals from being ground then you have the pinned B counterweight crank.

FordGarage ,perhaps I wrote that wrong but as far as the fuel pump boss is concerned I was referring to the block that the crank came out of. Sorry if I confused you.....

Main journals for a Model A are 1.625 and rods are 1.500. Mains for a B engine are 2.000 and rods are 1.875.

Like Vince said, a picture would help.

33 and up Model B four cylinder. Counter-weighted and needing reground. If the journals are not out of spec it is a good crank for a B.

Thanks for the ID .
My understanding is that it would make a nice crank for an A if turned down to the right spec...

The guys above are properly calling it a B crank but yours is the later B crank that everyone called a C crank, until a few years ago. The C designation indicates it is the late, counterbalanced crank, quicker and easier than going into detail about the weights, etc.

Thanks Jim.

The friend that gave me the crank felt that was the case but was not sure. I appreciate all of the input and the quick responses from everyone.
