Default Burr In New Gas Line

Just thought I would mention this for anyone purchasing a new inside gas line , or any line . I ordered a new inside line for my car , received it yesterday , and when checking it over noticed this , [ to me at least ] , very large burr left inside the flare from the swagging of the end . The other end also had a smaller one that I cleaned out before deciding to get a pic of this one . I don't think I want to take the chance of it breaking off on install and winding up in the carb or elsewhere , so I plan to clean it up before hand . Just something to watch for .

Sadly most new parts are not the quality they should be. It is good that you inspected it closely. Good luck.

thought maybe we were talking about Raymond Burr, but he's dead

No doubt the flare was made by an automated machine, and never looked at until you looked

I once bought a COMMON, IRON yard rake & discovered the teeth pointed UP, instead of DOWN, I took it back, for a FULL REFUND!

Should of turned it over and it would of been good to go !

As mentioned , for what we pay for some of these parts , the quality control should be better than what we get , just my 2 cents .

Thanks for the heads up! I usually check all orphaces of parts i install on any vehicle for manufacturing burrs - the wrath of mass production.

Bought a new semi auto rifle once and heard from forums to take it completely apart and clean it so you can eat off it as there are usually manufacturing burrs and chips loose in the gun...I mean any new to me gun i clean religiously before firing but still i found legitamite machineing chips inside...

Also have a chevette - been warned DO NOT buy rebuilt master cylinders. they were not properly cleaned after they have been bored out and new piston and O rings installed so the O rings get chewed up fast due to the grit...
