Default Model B fuel pumps: what am I missing?

There is an ad in the swap meet section for a post-production Model B fuel pump for sale. Like a majority of like ads, here and elsewhere, such as on ebay, all of the photos provided show the pump in an upside down position. What gives? Common sense suggests that the cover for the pump would not be at the bottom of the pump, but rather at the top, but the heck with common sense, right? If you don't know how they were positioned in use, guess and you have a 50/50 chance of being right, but seemingly those odds aren't in play with Model B fuel pump sellers.

Dave that seems to be the norm with most people who are trying to sell items
whether it be on Ebay, Craigs List or wherever and it's especially true with
various metal lathe parts. They just don't have a clue about the items and how
they work. So it's a buyer beware scenario much of the time. I try to stay away
from sellers not willing to accept returns for that reason.

NOT long back on ebay a fellow had a 35 V8 pump the SAME way, Up side down!!! THE Only possible scenario I can come up with IS the photos were taken by a cell phone and get turned during downloads or uploads a la' here on fordbarn IF you upload a picture from an I-Phone directly to the barn!!! ODDS are most likely NOT though!!

Iphones are tricky to get the photo to post right side up. People give up.

Charlie NY rebuilt a B pump for me and informed me that the non original pumps have check valves that are not serviceable. Lots of after market B pumps out there. Newc
