Default Engine tempture

If water temperature stays around 160 by front of radiator with heat gauge but engine block with heat gauge measures around 190 is this normal on very hot day idling

Get out and go for a drive, Enjoy the ride! If it’s not too hot, keep hydrated!

Sounds ok.

I added a new temp gage to my outlet nick when I put my new engine in. It has a 160F stat too. I like having the gage.

I also run a 160°F T/stat on each of my 4 Model As. They ALL open at about 140-145° according to the gauges with sensors in the neck. Does anybody else find these T/stats are so inaccurate?

The boiling point for a 50/50 water/antifreeze coolant mixture at atmospheric pressure (non-pressurized radiator) is 223 degrees F / 106 degrees C. If you are using a 50/50 antifreeze mixture this means your block temperature of 190 F is approximately 33 degrees below the boiling point of the coolant.
Big hammer makes an excellent point.
