how to assemble a 40
Hey Guys. I'm building a 40 ford and I would think that someone would have a booklet on proper procedure. There must be some tricks and little known secrets to help put one of these together properly. Anyone?

Re: how to assemble a 40
It is all pretty straight forward. Enlarge the fender mounting holes and put the hood on first. Then fit the fenders to the hood. The fender washers will cover the enlarged mounting holes. You don't say how far apart this project is. Body still on the frame? Flathead engine, trans and rear?

Re: how to assemble a 40
FIRSt
Have you bought the Early Ford V8 Clubs 1940 Ford restoration manual? IF not, that would be a tremendous first start!! After that, I would imagine that for one to list ALL the ins and outs, intricacies and processes (which is all depending on skill, abilities, parts availability etc etc) would be somewhat gargantuan in scope. My advice would to be ASK questions as you move along with your project and when you get to an area of need, there are several VERY qualified 1940 "GUYS" here on the barn with tremendous advice, skill and Most of all knowledge.......One in particular is "HE" who wrote "The Book!" AND restored more 39/40 Fords than one might imagine!! |

You want "Proper Procedure"? Well, it don't get no more "Proper" than Kube's famous dissertation on gluing the front end on a Forty Ford, way-mo better than the factory ever did it. This is the motha-load of Forty Front End Assembly Info....click the link BELOW! DD https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showp...88&postcount=4 . |

Re: how to assemble a 40
Try the Early Ford V8 Club website, click on the Online Store and then Ford Books. I tried copying the link, but couldn't get it too work after it was pasted on the Barn for some reason.

I'm pretty sure that the only source is through the Early Ford V8 Club. That's how I had to get mine. You DO NOT have to belong to The Club to order. BELOW is a link right to the site for the '40 book. DD https://shop.efv8.org/collections/ford-books . |

Re: how to assemble a 40
Thanks for response. I am finishing an abandoned project from 30 yrs ago. basically assemble the car. Just think that there should be some manuals that cover shimming, welting, assembly etc.
Nice 40 |
