Spark plugs, another option?
Replaced the 216's with a set of E3-10's about 500 miles ago. Although they have a slightly shorter reach, the electrode extends .025 farther into the chamber. They are 'stubby' plugs but that is no problem. The thing that I have noticed is that there are better cold start and idling characteristics.

Re: Spark plugs, another option?
Interesting. Do you know what the original application of this plug was? (I used marine surface gap plugs with great success in an 8BA with Offenhauser heads.)

For Offy heads, because of the longer reach, you would have to search the E-3 spec. sheets for thread and reach size.

Re: Spark plugs, another option?
51 Merc-CT: I am currently using NGK GR4 2635 plugs on my 8BA with MCF heads. They have a 3/4 in. reach as required by the MCF heads. The E3 automotive section of their website shows the E3.46 plug to be the cross reference plug for my NGK plug. When you use the E3 website what plug do you get? I am assuming you are trying to cross reference the Autolite 216 plug. Have you ever tried the E.3.46 plugs? The customer reviews of the E3 plugs are mixed. http://e3sparkplugs.com/cross-ref

Re: Spark plugs, another option?
Kind of reminds me of the Lodge 4 prong plugs for Alfa Romeos used. Always wondered if the spark would hit multiple electrodes or does it give the spark more chances to land if dirty or fouled?
