'34 Battery support dimensions
I live in South Africa and importing parts from the US is helluva expensive - with air freight and import tax added, we pay almost double what you guys pay in the States!
I'd like to make a battery support for a '34 V8 3-W Coupe. Can anyone help me with the cradle dimensions from an original or repro tray? Many thanx! |

Re: '34 Battery support dimensions
Leo, are you planning to mount your battery under the floor as it was originally? Also wondering which battery you plan to use? 2HF or 2LF, 6V lead acid, or maybe a 6V Optima Red Top. These questions and possibly others will need to be answered before you build your mounting box. Also for under floor battery mounting on '35's, one of the frame supports is used as one rail of the battery mount. Don't know if your '34 is the same.

Re: '34 Battery support dimensions
33-34 battery trays are self contained units . The battery does not rest on frame rails . I don't have a loose complete one handy to measure up . They are pretty simple and someone here should have one loose to measure . Making one would be fairly easy .

I'm going the 12 volt route. Six volters are as scarce as hen's teeth here in South Africa -- and the ones you do get, cost an arm and a leg -- and never outlast their warranty! Will post pix of my battery support when it's done. Love The Ford Barn! |
