The instructions that come with the carb synchronizer (the one with the bead in the tube) are pretty good.

I like this sync tool better than the old style ball type. Works really well....

It is VERY simple. your going to adjust the idle RPM adjustment so both Carbs. draw equal venturi vacuum as measured with either of the two devices as shown above at idle. In effect both Carbs. will contribute equally to idle. If when this is done idle adj is too high than lower the idle adj. on both equally for your desired RPM then recheck and readjust. If you adjust idle mixture and the idle RPM changes, then again readjust the sync.

Also the throttle linkage needs to be loose. tighten after synching.

John is correct, disconnect the linkage connecting the two carbs together, before starting and replace when done. If you don't then a adjustment on eather carb RPM would effect the other.

The very first thing to do is make sure the two carbs are exactly the same, including jetting, PV, and float settings, assuming the normal straight linkage settup. If the carbs have no history or questionable assembly, run each carb on a stock intake and monitor vacuum levels during idle bleed and rpm adjustments, which should match. This will ensure the carbs will easily sync and run trouble free on the dual intake.

Before the invention of all these tuning aides, we used to set the idle screws by running our hand over the carbs, until l they were both the same. Simple and effective,

Along the same way of thinking... The idle mixture screws can be adjusted nicely by cutting a two foot length of vacuum hose, stick one end down the carb and the other end in your ear. Moving the end in the carb from side to side and listening for the same exact percolating/hissing sound while adjusting the screws and you're there!
Works great for removing earwax in the event of a backfire as well!

Thanks Max and 'Ole Ron,

I love these old simple and effective tricks to diagnose and tune.

Hahaha more like removing your ear!

Im for a synchroniser and a vacuum gauge.. (and maybe the wisest move going back to a single carb ; )

Search "unisync" on this site, lots of info.
I use a unisync because after all of these years of developing my "selective hearing" I left the hissing frequency out, Chap
