Default 53 front springs

I want to change the front suspension springs on my 53 club coupe. Haven't got a manual yet, wondered if someone could tell me the correct safe procedure for getting the front springs out
Thanks
Ian

The stabilizer or sway bar connects to bumper plate by the lower arm. Don

i just bought a 53 victoria and someone heated the front springs to lower it about 4". way too low and the Aframes hit the rubber snubbers at each bump. i was going to drill out the 6 rivets and remove the lower spring retainer and remove the old springs and install new ones and then use a 1/2" or 3/4" spacer between the retainer and the lower A frame to lower it just a little. i did not want to dis-assemble it like the book says to and then have to have it realligned...

Seems like a lot of work to drill out the rivets, If you want to change the springs later that would make it very easy. You can buy new springs from Carpenter, for $200.

Once you change the height you will need an alignment.

The Ford Aerostar spring MOOG CC 850 will improve the ride and handling a lot and will lower the car 2 1/2" check out the cost:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moog-CC850-C...2173b2&vxp=mtr MOOG still offers the stock springs under a $100,guess Ol' Dennis C is padding his retirement.
