From what I read,it's not needed but it won't hurt to have it there, after oil pan was vented oil is not supposed to pressure out the rear seal or labrith ring,

My thinking is that with it installed less oilfumes goes out to the clutch.
Blowby still goes out there and the vent without it, ford probably saved some money and it worked without it.
The heavy truck engines seems to have used it longer looking at the engines i break apart and some have a S shaped version with a checkvalve to prevent oil going out climbing steep hills.
I use them as i like the engineering idee of it.

I like um to, I believe the idea was to keep some of the Crankcase windage blowing oil in the slinger area out into the clutch housing.

This has been REALLY BEAT TO DEATH in the past here .

That said has anyone watched a V8 [ or whatever ] with a clear oil pan run as a demo ?

Why would you not want even a short one to keep some of that splashing oil OUT of the rear seal area ?

I only use actual 33-34 non-vented motors and it is definitely a help with those .

Don, just measured one up as best I could and believe it to be 1/2"x 32 TPI

Pipe is for sure 1/2" with a wall thickness of .042" .

The pics blow up pretty good . [

We have some that are essentially straight but with a slight bend at one end. The threads are confirmed as 32 tpi. The odd thing is that the bend is at the unthreaded end......opposite of the ones pictured above.
