Rope seal retainer
Is this something I should try to get repaired?
I hammered it back straight just not sure if the crack is a problem?

Re: Rope seal retainer
I would not use it that way. Best to fix it now. Model A engines are hard enough to get right. What you have there is going to take the pressure off the seal. Then you will have a leak.

Re: Rope seal retainer
That extra lip is spot welded to the oil pan. It forms the inner lip to hold the rop seal in place. It looks like it was slightly bent and you straightened it. If the spot welds aren't broken I don't see any problem with using it.

George, you said exactly what I was thinking. Tom, the spot welds are tight. The broken piece of crank pulley wedged itself in the retainer and tweaked it. I'm guessing that's silver solder - Is that OEM?
