1937 mechanical temp sender removal help
Folks, I am preparing to pull my 85 flatty. I am unable to get the original temp sender out of the iron head. Concerned about damaging the bulbs in the head. Need ideas. Thanks.

Tricky...very delicate...obviously, do not pull on the tube. you'll need work through the hose outlet in top of the head. Try and get some sorta 'hooked' bar down through that opening so you can apply 'lifting' pressure to bottom of bulb. A slide hammer type of thing would assist...use lots of penetrating oil, and patience. do not get rough with it...good luck! When you go to re-install it, apply lots of anti-seize around it and only just 'nip' up the nut; it does not need massive torque to seal the bulb to the head. This will make the job far easier next time. Good luck!
