Rear window
Is this the forum or is there another that can tell me what I need to know to put a power window motor in the rear window of my 3 window?
I am getting too old to keep turning around and cranking it up and down so while it is apart, I am hoping to install a motor to do the work for me. I would like a motor to do the job while still being compact. What would I use and where to get one? |

Re: Rear window
You might find an answer over on the HAMB.
I made a goofy power window motor from a junkyard motor. Epoxied a 3/8 drive socket to the gear on the motor. The 3/8 fits the square drive on the window winder. Try finding a motor from one of the Jap cars as they are usually smaller. Fab up a plastic cover and get an intermitant rocker switch (west marine). It's UGLY but it will work. |

Re: Rear window
I used a cable driven gear that fit over the shaft of the regulator and the motor mounted off to the side of the wood support on my 5w. Think they are made by SPAL? They were designed for doors but easily adapts to the rear window crank. Was a universal unit that came with different plastic adapters to fit the shaft of the window crank. Not sure if still available anymore as I haven't looked.

Re: Rear window
I just replace a regulator in a Buick sedan. the motor works fine.
If you'd like the motor an bracket you can have it for whatever it costs me to ship it. |
