1934 Ford problem
Well, I got "that close" to being able to say my project (my avatar) is done after nearly 2 years on the build.
However... today, while cranking the passengers door glass of my 1934 Ford 3 window coupe, the channel holding the glass crapped out. It is beyond any metal repair any longer. So now I need to find out where I go to purchase a NOS, NORS, original, or an older reproduction channel for this right hand door. I need one that is built solid not one of those cheapy ones from Argentina or China or offshore somewhere else. Can anyone direct me to a quality source? I tried several of the usual suppliers via phone this afternoon but got pretty much the same response from each of them: "If you buy this one I have, it is on you, we do not want it back as it is flimsy". Well, honest businessmen still exist but gosh, where are the good manufacturers? I had thought of trying the place they call Hershey but I do not know when it is or how I would be able to see what is there living here in Arizona. Anyone with good suggestions? Thank you very much. |

"Hershey" is the Annual Fall Meet for the Antique Automobile Club of America, which is held in Hershey, Pennsylvania, every October. It is one of the biggest and best car shows in the country.

Re: 1934 Ford problem
Thank you TonyM. If I wanted to find what was being sold at Hershey next October, how would I go about that without going all that way over there?

Impossible. It is the biggest Antique Auto Parts Swap Meet of all time. The only way to know what is there is to be there. It is so big you cannot walk the whole thing in one day. http://www.eastwood.com/blog/eastwoo.../2014-hershey/ |

Re: 1934 Ford problem
Another option is to remove the part, determine for yourself or with help from other knowledgeable folks where the problem(s) are, and have a local machine shop fabricate you a new part to replace the defective parts you have. The problem with buying a used replacement is that it might not be better than what you have.

Check with a guy who puts ads in Hemmings he goes by the name Regulator Roy. You will find him in the Ford 32 and up parts section.

Post a picture on this thread. Many folks love the chase of rusty gold.

Re: 1934 Ford problem
Some of the 3-W parts are hard to find if so I would suggest you save your original until a replacement works. It is possible to get the glass channel longer from another car Re-use your regulator channels by having the glass and the regulator channels tack welded together.
