Default 31 rumble latch

I have a new repro rumble latch that I picked up somewhere, maybe Hershey. It fits but the piece that sticks out to go into the striker plate sticks out a bit in the open position and hits on the striker plate preventing the lid from closing. Is this a problem with some repros? Should I file it down? Are the current repros better?

when in the open position the tung should be even with the surface of the latch. sounds like a reproduction to me.

Yes it is a repro. I had guessed that the tongue should be flush. Maybe I'll try filing it down and if that fails, I'll order a new one or try to find an original.
