He will be greatly missed, his username here was barnstuf. We had a long conversation at the beginning of the year and I was planning to go meet him when we go up to the Cape this August. I'm very glad he got to share many of his stories here. Thanks for sharing the news Joop.

Rich Bell was a GREAT guy who I have known since 1973. He sure was knowledgeable about the "A's" especially the parts for them. I always considered him a Great friend.

Rest In Peace Rich.

Thanks for posting Joop.

If it's the same Rick Bell from Wellfleet, MA my dad bought a lot of parts from him back in the early 70's. Nice man.

What a shame. He had some great stories and advice. I bought parts off of him as well. Always a nice guy.

Really, I did not know that about him.

Synchro, a purple heart in simple terms is awarded to people wounded or killed in action.

Here is a nice article written about him from last July. Sounds like he lived one hell of a life.

I probably met Rich in the mid 70's, most likely at a flea market, bought lots of parts from over the years. He was a wealth of information and I enjoyed listening to his stories of Model A'ing in the early days. He was a great guy and those of us who used to see him regularly will miss him.

Another Model A icon has passed away. I did not know him, but the article listed by ryanheacox says it all. He was a patriot, a model citizen and a friend of the Model A hobby. His generation is the reason we are all free. We must never forget. May he rest in peace. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Rest in peace my friend. Always enjoyed a short visit with him when we got to go to the Cape. His shop was like a time machine. Oldman

This is a map with the towns mentioned.

This is a photo of the map on the wall of the American Cemetery Brittany near St James. We just happened to come across it a few years ago.

I had just recently bought some parts from him, he was staying at his home in Vermont avoiding the Corona Virus. His daughter was helping him with shipping ect. Real nice man.
