Default Stromberg exterior finish question

Hi, I recently acquired three Stromberg 97‘s and I’m working on rebuilding them. The exterior coatings are faded/blotchy, how do I bring the exterior back to a nice finish? Is there a paint or a coating I can do on the mid and upper body? I know how to take care of the base, just need some advice on the middle and the upper. Anyone have any magic solutions that doesn’t require mailing them to someone else? Thanks Jason

Carburetor shops used to have mild acid that they dipped carbs in to give a light bronzish tint to the metal, you might try to seek out such a shop.
Start with all stock jets although you might need a smaller power jet, such as the #71 from the 81 carb. Have fun!

Worry more about the inside than the outside, the “white crust of death” is a pot metal carb killer.
Do the outside with brake clean and a stainless wire ‘toothbrush’

Holley 94’s are ‘smart’, they use engine vacuum signal to operate the enrichener circuit.. find one and sort it out, they are cheaper than a Stromberg..

At one time Eastwood had a carburetor "paint" that worked really well and made the carb look new. They had both the goldish "pickled" color and a zinc color. Unfortunately they don't appear to carry it anymore.

I like clear engine paint, look good & yes will yellow but same with intakes and heads, still have character without the “chalky” look from corrosion.

Thanks for the advice here. I have rebuilt all 3 bergs internally and now I’m trying to put some lipstick on them. Thanks again, I am sure they will look good too! Jason
