Default Whitewall inserts

I realise this can be an emotive subject, whitewalls, but here goes, has anybody used these -
ATLAS 19" White Wall Tire insert Trim
- if so opinions please on the fit, performance, etc.
Not cheap, especially time the import duty etc. is added but I have excellent tyres and w/w tyres ain`t cheap plus they can be easily removed (the inserts)
Not 100% sure I want w/w`s but all options open

I run these on my 16/s

Not too bad except for the big in yer face ATLAS logo and the (SIZE) logo.

If your tyres have markings that stick out, that affects the fake WW too,

The overall effect from 20 feet away is OK.

Close inspection is like a pig with lipstick on.

If they are like the ones sold back in the day they have a tendency to come loose and flop around making a strange noise.

If you want to see what your car looks like with whitewall tyres is it possible to borrow a couple from someone else to try?

Bit different over here, especially in my area, going to try photo shopping a pic but won`t be the same as the real thing.

I am laughing as I recall those on my father's car back in the 50's. Whenever we drove past the home of a certain dog, the dog would come chasing after the car barking and snapping at the loose whitewalls, One day he managed to get his teeth into one and it broke his neck. The sound must have really provoked him because the owner said he never chased cars.

Here is my car in a before and after whitewalls. It does not look like your black coupe, though.

(Note the new WW's in the rumble)

Hicktick - thanks, funny how you don`t think of the obvious, I`ll try that.
Bruce, thanks, nice car, not sure I like them on your ragtop, the ones I`m looking at are the thin version.

Flopping tire, reminds me when I was about 9yr old, dad put me out of the family car( no not because I was being bad) to find which tire was making the flopping noise. On dad's second pass I saw which tire was making the noise. The offending tire was coming apart at the recap splice. Dad was PO, no not at me, about the recapped tire, no more recap's for the family car!

Here we go again for the ummteeth time. White walls vs. black walls. If you like them use them, if not don't. Nuff said...

That's an optical illusion. It's really the type of coolant. Or maybe it's the type of oil. I can't remember.

As an alternative, paint? Here's a thread from H.A.M.B on the subject with the down sides examined.

http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/t...-tires.864791/

As another alternative, if economics allows, why not replace the blacks with some new whites? That way at least no issues with inserts mentioned here or paint on the H.A.M.B.postings. If the blacks are new, or new or near new, put 'em up on the Swap Meet. Some one will probably pick them up.

Actually much easier for you than me! It looks as though you might have got a result close to home, good luck.
For my whole life I have hated cars with white walled tyres with a passion but on my Model A with its white roof they're the only choice.
