Default Value for a 1928 Roadster Pickup

A friend of mine’s father passed away and he wants to sell his dad’s 1928 roadster pickup. It was running well and his dad had it out on the road a few years ago. It died on one of the outings. He never seemed to get back to it. Any advice on an asking price?

Eastern PA.

Thanks,
Jerry

I don't know about a dollar value but he would do better to get it running.
Also straighten the headlights, horn and mirror.

While I don't know what the final price was on this one (way less then the asking I am sure);

Would say $10,000 would be too low. It is after all a roadster pickup.
I agree with what BobC said.

Get it running and I can't see any reason why you wouldn't get $10K for that all day long.

My advice would be get it running and place a For Sale sign where ever it goes and is parked. Internet can be a frustrating place to sell a car with all the back and forth. Something about seeing a running roadster truck in person makes people fall in love with them. Summer is coming and these are perfect vehicles for the season.

Lots of unknowns but I'd say around here it would sell for 6-9K. If running and drivable.

You're are near the east coast where it should bring 12,000 easily.

There weren't that many Pickups built -- I know, just found and bought a '31. I paid 14K (not a Roadster) for mine last year. I think your price is a bargan

It's a '28, and I think that adds a little value. Do you have a title with numbers that match the engine's? Not a deal breaker if you don't, but it would make things simpler.

Thanks for all the replies.

Not sure about the title but it does have a PA plate. Will need to check on that.

I wish I had space for the truck, it would match my car.

Since it was your dad's, if you can afford to keep it, keep it, especially if the wife wants it.

I was faced with the same problem with my dads car. In the end my wife's car came out of the garage and the Model A went in.

I've only had it a few weeks but I'm glad we were able to keep it.
