Default Juice brakes

Does it matter what year the rear brake drum is?
Have one rear from 41-48 car and found a 42
Mercury rear that looks completely different.
Theory is that it will still mount the fit the same
Just different looking exterior
Truy?

The 39-48 Ford and Mercury are interchangeable. The big visual difference is some have the drum outside the flange and others have the drum inside the flange. But they both fit.
