Default Radiator Identification

Can anyone tell me which year vehicles these brass radiators go to. The smaller upper hose openings ( black radiator ) are 1.25” diameter. The brass one leaks. The black painted brass one is OK. Does anyone have a general value as is, considering mounting brackets are cut or partially missing?

The black one has this designation to the upper right side ( by the hose connection ) IBA-D under that G I

The brass one has a designation 21A then under that G

Thank You

Joe

Found on another site says the 21A/G says that’s a 42 Ford, G notes it was manufactured in Green Island NY? Sounds plausible?

"1BA" is 1951 Ford, which coincides with the 1.25 inch top outlets.

Thank you!

If you know, how much different is that year from 49/50 Ford Shoebox. Is the number different also?

I imagine they are virtually the same, '49-'51. There may have been some minor modification made for 1951, as a few things changed; rotator valves and the Ford-a-Matic transmission to name a couple, but since the Ford-a-Matic was air-cooled, I can't imagine what it is

Thank You…( .thinking the 49/50 has the 1.25” diameter hose opening on top also? ) for your help. I’d rather sell them ( due to the top and bottom portions being brass even if core leaks, as core can be replaced ) vs scraping for brass. Those radiator$ weight a ton.

As "Kube" noted above, "21A-" denotes 1942 Ford passenger car as the main, intended application. The inverted "U" section at the bottom coincides with the area that allows clearance for the use of a hand crank. I know that this same feature was also used on '37 radiators. DD

Thankx for that information about the inverted “U” I was not sure what the reason for that loop.

My 39 Deluxe has the hole in center grille chrome trim and they made radiators with a gap for a hand crank also as another year.

Here's a '38 radiator....SAME feature, and I'd bet a '39 STANDARD radiator is probably the same. As you probably know, the '39 Standard and DeLuxe radiators are completely different. DD

I certainly appreciate you wanting them to go to a good home. Realistically, unless you are going to give them away to a guy near you, well, it ain't gonna happen.
I have tried to sell numerous radiators that were at least as nice as yours and more popular (39 deluxe / 40 all). When there were no bids at $49.95, they went to the scrap yard. Brought 18 of them in. Got a bit better than $1000.

Yes that’s my back up plan. Came with my car among other parts some 51+ years ago..
