You can rate the thread by voting. I believe.

I wish that was a feature that Ryan would remove as I tend to believe it 'abused' more than the good it was intended to serve.

There's a couple of "one star bandits" here that purposely post single star ratings more based on whether they like the thread starter than content of the post. I started a thread last week that gained the "one star" in only 10 minutes with no subsequent posts.

Pretty typical.

Agree with Brent -- this feature should be removed or disabled.

Does anyone really care about the stars?
Should the owner of the site really spend time to disable the worthless feature?

I would like a feature where if a member is online you can start an offline chat with them.

Get rid of 'em, I say. Seems there's enough sniping on this site without another reason for some.

Someone has too much time on their hands. Look at the many stars on all the threads on the first two pages and compare those pages to pages four, five, etc.

I'm crushed. Absolutely crushed. I never knew what the starts meant - or how one goes to get them.

Is a single star is offered to someone who doesn't know what it means like a tree falling in a wood and nobody there to hear it?

I think there is a negative vibe that is subliminally placed on the thread. Maybe it affects the "tone" or how the thread is perceived. Why even bother/tempt with anything that portrays anything negative? Plenty of that in the rest of the world!!

There is, ...right beside the REPORT button there is a little round 'light' will be Green when someone is online. There is a disable function for it in the user profile area but if it is green, that person is online. Whether they will chat with someone is a different story

It is called sabotage. It is easy enough for Ryan or COB to find out who is sabotaging their site and get rid of them once and for all.

Al

But on the flip side, it is an "opinion based" feature (voting if they like it or not) and if there is to be 'freedom of expression' here expressing (y)our opinions, that possibly would be deemed 'over-censoring'. You & I both know that is a controversial slope so the easiest way to deal with it might be just to eliminate it from the forum if Ryan has that option with this software.

Brent I agree with you ( as usual ) but if the star rating is not eliminated Ryan and Cob should not allow someone to sabotage it by rating every posting as a five star. I don't believe they necessarily liked them all, I believe they tried to take the law ( and control of the Fordbarn site ) into their own hands and that should not be allowed.

The stars are about as meaningful as calling an actor/actress a "STAR" or a "CELEBRITY" geez! Bill W.

I know about the green light but you cannot chat with them like an instant message. I would like that feature.
