How much more value, if any, would it add to a model a if it was an original right hand drive car?

It was shipped from Argentina 20 years ago. It is a 1930 standard Phaeton.

Are you in a dilema? RHD car from Sth America which you plan to restore/ sell?
Value wise, who knows. Depends whether there are people willing to drive 'on the wrong side of the seat' for added interest. Downunder [ Aust. & NZ] there are lots of guys that love to drive LHD cars because its perseived to 'look cool'.

James, I would say cheaper because the supply/demand. Most people don't want them. I can say that rhd parts are dirt cheap over here though because again, nobody wants them. One last thing to think about. Argentina A's we're the most tortured A's. They were used as taxi cabs through the 1960's in a country with few paved roads at the time they were new. It's common to find a south American A where the frame has broke two or three times and been welded up so you would probably have to change the frame. 30/31 phaetons are rarer than 28/29 so normally fetch a little more. When you say,Model A and Argentina in the same sentence the price spirals downward.As one guy put it,when you start replacing junk parts with good ones,you will have another car sitting next to the first one.Arlen has it right,they used cars there until the bitter end.Over the years I've called about cars,if I found they were from Argentina I wouldn't waste anybodys time.I was not buying.I don't have any use for a RHD car either,most of my experience with them was from people asking me how much it would take to convert them to LHD.It seems to be a novelty until you actually get in and drive it.It's fun for a few minutes.A few years ago I bought an older Kenworth with 35,000 miles on it.It had been ordered for an oil drilling outfit that had gone belly up.When I drove it I could see why the previous owner had only used it for 35,000 years in 30 years.Shifting a 13 speed with my left hand was not fun at all.

it's up to the purchasher what their personal preverense is...more value I don't know...but I prefer original cars and if its to my liking I don't think about what others think............... I just BUY IT!!

In addition to the negatives already mentioned, I believe this model had a wood framed body including the doors. That would make it a tough restoration and much different than the steel structured Phaetons here. Most folks wouldn't want it.

The Argentinan 35B's bodies are identical to their U.S. counterpart. It is the Australian built ones that are wooden framed.

Only the delux phaeton had a wooden frame body here, S, American bodys all steel same as NZ & USA etc, Think its value would be higher if retained RHD but in the US number of potential buyers might be less, Certainly in NZ the LHD vehicles are far more acceptable than in the past , In face i preffer driving a LHD in NZ than RHD , I find its no harder & in many cases easier, The old story of how you over take comes up. How often does one now overtake a bus Truck etc in an old vehicle let alone a modern, Besides you are sitting higher in an old vehicle than most rice burners, plus you can move closer to the inside edge than a RHD, Not to metion the acc pedal.

If all things were equal in quality and appeal I would buy the LHD model. There may be some here in the USA that would want a RHD but I'm sure many more would want the LHD. That being said you limited your market and therefore your resale price.

But wood is easier than steel.

BTW...I bought this RHD car in Arlington, TX.. She's actually pretty solid. Needs standard patches, new floors (of course), a new top, running boards and rear fenders (these were re-welded many times....and an interior. The motor turns over and rear mechanical brakes work (fronts are not hooked up) I'm going to do a general service and I suspect she will start up. The seller said that his dad had been driving it up to 8-10 yrs ago until when he stopped driving...said that it didn't smoke and was a good runner....will let yall know.

The tires even aired up (briefly).

And the doors are steel as is most of the body...the only wood seems to be the bows, there are a couple of pieces in the very back and where upholstery would tack to.

I have owned two RHD US MAIL Jeeps. After a while you don't even notice. I wouldn't hesitate to buy any RHD vehicle. Your brain adapts pretty fast. Plus you get lots of strange looks from people, especially if your left hand front passenger holds up his or her hands in the air!

I drove those postal jeeps for a living for many years.Takes about a minute to get used to it and then there is no difference. But they are automatic and shifting with the left hand on a straight shift might take longer to master.

Ill be at the Tx tour in a few months with a rhd A400 if you have any questions about how it's all set up or if you need a list of suppliers for rhd parts such as the muffler clamp etc. make sure you really check out your frame. They are almost always bad on argentina cars
