6V turn signal buzzer
I bought one of those 6V turn signal buzzers as recomended by an earlier poster (thanks) and am curious as to how one would hook it up electrically. I see a red and a black wire but no instructions came with the Radio Shack buzzer (p/n 273-054). Thanks, Barry

Re: 6V turn signal buzzer
It's polarity sensitive. There is an unused lug on the turn signal flasher that is used to drive the buzzer. Put the black wire to this point and ground the red wire. Put the buzzer somewhere inside the driver area and you are set

Re: 6V turn signal buzzer
Barry, don't follow my idea on hooking up the buzzer. I just tried it on my car and the buzzer sounds all the time. I need to come up with something else and will let you know what I find. Art

Re: 6V turn signal buzzer
Thanks guys, I'll wait . I looked for Steve M's thread (he showed it originally) but couldn't find it. For me, that's the biggest drawback to the new barn, you can't locate the threads if they are more than a day old. Maybe there's a shortcut I don't know about. Other than that it's an excellent site.

Re: 6V turn signal buzzer
Ok I just went and looked. Mine is a 12V neg ground system. I hooked the red wire to the middle connector on the flasher and the black wire to ground . I mounted my beeper with double sided tape up under the dash rail on the drivers side. Hope this helps

Re: 6V turn signal buzzer
It really all depends on what kind of switch you use,how you wire the signals,(with the brakelights or completely independent)3 prong or 2 prong flasher, etc.I wired a beeper into a 53 MGTD replica I built for my wife. She never remembers to turn the signals off.On that one I had to use two beepers, one for each side. The ones I bought from Radio Shack were about $2.each and not polarity sensitive. They are marked 3 to 28 volts so I guess they are not too fussy about anything. They are LOUD though. The noise comes out a tiny hole in the back of them. You can cover the hole with tape to whatever noise level you want.

This is the beeper I used. My blinkers are in the rear tail lamps and front cowl lamps Last edited by Model A Man; 05-21-2010 at 02:31 PM. |

Re: 6V turn signal buzzer
I took the easy way out, took a trip to Radio Shack and bought another buzzer and wired one for left and one for right. I sure would like to post some pics but don't know how yet. I would also like to find out how to get a pic under your name on the left side.

Re: 6V turn signal buzzer
Ray, mine says 6V D.C. on it. I didn't ask about 12V.
