Default Non stock muffler suggestions

I know there a lot of stock Model A'ers that have or have an interest in speedsters. Please don't read any farther if this may offend you.

I have a Cherry Bomb muffler on my speedster now and I don't really care for the chop, chop , chop sound and would like something a little more mellow. Any suggestions?

I have old 80s Mercedes turbo diesel mufflers on my smiths compresser and chevy truck --2-1/4", straight through ---both are quiet, but I put the one on the chevy backwards and a BIG black cloud of soot came out at first --the chevy(350) sounds good, but not annoying, the smiths it is more of a pffft pfft---quite surprising because they are baisically a large glasspack type of muffler.

a little $$ to buy new, mine are ones that fell off because of rusted pipes--so far 8 years on the truck and it sits outside, 15 years on the compresser---

I took an old style Model A Muffler - 20 years ago it ws a $49 muffler - ripped it down middle and took all the baffels out then sewed (welded) it back together and shortened it by 6". It looks like a Model A muffler and keeps the cops happy at the same tiem. The last 2 feet of the tail pipe are enlarged to 2 " dia. Got it on my speedster. The sound is kinda like a Chevy 350.

Any others? I'm looking for a more mellow sound than what I have but since it's just a stock 4 banger with a HC head I'd like it to sound good without being overly loud.

I would think any of those cigar shaped glass pack straight through mufflers or similar tractor muffler would fit the bill.
