Default 1934 Pickup with 8ba...install problems

Back in May 2010 (yes, seven years ago) I posted a question under the above title. With the advice given and confirmed by other sources I will use a 1950 Mercury with a pre-1949 camshaft + early distributor.

Two days ago I took my stock radiator to an old time shop in Ft Worth for cleaning, etc and when I ask for electric fan info the owner said to cool properly the fan would need to be appx 4 1/2" wide (including shroud). My clearance in the TOP HALF of the radiator is 2 1/2"; BOTTOM HALF 3/4".

In my May 2010 post (link below) Straightpipes commented on an electric fan...
"I use an electric fan behind the radiator. With a nice clean block and the timing set correctly I rarely use the fan anyway. It can be wired thermostatically or manually switched".

My Question: For those of you that have a 1933/34 pickup and have used a stock engine along with an electric fan...

1) WHAT fan (brand/model) did you use?
2) Your results with proper cooling?
3) If possible, the clearance you have for the TOP half of YOUR radiator?

THANKS for reading and I look forward to your feedback.

Why dont you use the early manifold and generator, then you can use the fan on it.

Stock mechanical fan is the way to go for me.. anything else is too modern. Might as well make it a street rod.. that's what electric fans are for aren't they?.. Oops...
