Default Worm Gear Photos?

I may have worn worm gears in my Steering Box. It may be a three ring one.

Anyone with photos to show or what to look for?

Been there done that pointers?

Thanks

The steering boxes changed during '56.
'55/'56 steering boxes are Two tooth, the '56/'57 steering boxes are Three tooth. With a bit more surface area on the gears the Three tooth version generally holds up a little better.

(only one of the first three images is a 50's Ford part, the other two are just visual aids)
Photos 4 and 5 are top views of: '55/'56 and '56/'57.

I can't help with your question, but I had a little experience with those. The "that is the worse worn steering box I've seen " was removed from my 55 bird (2 tooth) and replaced by a 3 tooth. Amazing improvement.

This was the rebuilder, they're only about 6 miles from me and do a lot of restoration work for the local gear heads and restoration guys. Worth a call if you need work. They will do things not listed on the site, but in your case I don't know.
