Engine difference 28-29>30-31
A’ers,
I have a chance to purchase a 28-29 block with transmission with pedals, starter, manifolds and carburetor. As a rookie hoping for guidance from the experienced members, are there significant differences between this block/transmission and a 30/31 that would preclude it from being a backup engine for my ‘30 coupe? |

AFIK They are the same engine, except the ARs, which were made in late 1927 and early 1928.

Here is an excellent description of the Model A's engine evolution.

There were many small differences in blocks over the years. Generally speaking the newer the blocks are stronger than early ones, but only the very early ones have real weak spots, so for your use, do it!
