Default Control rod throttle control

My control rod for the throttle will not stay where I put it. The serrations on the
onto column lip are warn smooth. Do I need to remove the control rod and bend it?
Please, what are my options? I start with my hand on the lever.

You can slip a rubber tube over the control arm. Use a rubber that will expand to go over the flattened end but fit snug on the round part. Pull up hard on the control arm to get the tube located over the column lip. You may have to try different rubber tubes to find one that works. The advantage in the rubber tube is that it will not wear down the lip further.

Others will recommend filling new notches in the lip. That will work too unless the lip is too far worn.

I have the same issue with my spark advance lever. I put a piece of sticky back velcro where the serrations were. Just enough friction and since it is black you would really have to look to see it.

If I ever have the column apart I will fix it correctly but for now it works just fine.
