Default odometer not functioning with new Mitchell OD install

After installing a new Mitchell over drive in my 31 Coupe, when I took it for a spin the speedo didn't work. I followed written the instructions. Any suggestions?

The cable core isn't engaging, either at the back of the speedo or at the 'turtle'. Take the cable off the speedo and see if it turns when you move the vehicle. Take it from there.

Had identical problem with Mitchell installation last week. Unit was shipped with the "key hole" type speedo cable drive adapter. A "square" drive cable adapter fixed the problem.
I suppose one could tell Mitchell what type was needed to avoid the situation.
