Chrome grill on a Deluxe and painted on a Standard.

Spoke steering wheel on Deluxe. Wood grain differs on dash and window frames between the Standard and Deluxe. Spare tire cover differs also, so does the outside door handles differ. Plus all of the above and more too. Which do you have? I have a Standard. Charles

Many standards were restored as deluxes by changing and adding parts where appropiate,as mine was originally a standard made into a deluxe. lol. This was done by a previous owner. Accually standards are more rare because of this.I would leave it a standard as not many are left.ken ct.

I'm actually trying to sell it, it's nearly done, just need to drop the engine in and it's done. Was trying to figure the type out for pricing purposes.

As I am posting this from work I have not been able to confirm whic type it is. I will post pictures if you guys wouldn't mind helping determine a fair market value.

Thanks

Since I own a "true Deluxe" coupe, which I have owned for over 61 years, I can attest to the fact that there are many items which separate the Deluxe from the standards..
Single tail-lights a painted grille, painted dash in lieu of wood-graining, three digit trip odometer, single visors, painted windshield frame, are the most obvious.. Dual taillights do not mean much because some states required two tail-lights..
The the list of options, i.e. dual wipers, radio, heater, etc. goes on and on.
The accessory options were all dealer installed, so the variations are endless..
It should be interesting to note that in the late 1940's, early '50's, there were more standards than deluxe' around.. Times were tough during the later part of the Great Depression, a $25.00 difference between two cars could, and would be a deal breaker.
Of course as people started fixing their cars up, hot rods and/or customs, they cloned the standards into deluxe models..
It is near impossible to establish a value for a car based on internet hear say... I would suggest that you have the car appraised, or at the very least use the values shown in the Old Car Price Guide.

Post some detailed information and as many pictures as you can, along with your email address. Some of us can get back to you that way with what we feel the value range of your car may be.

I have two taillights, so I'm guessing it's a deluxe, I will post some pictures tomorrow. Thanks again.
