Lever type latch on 28-29 open car
Were the levers plain or plated?
I’ve got one that I took apart and it never looks to have been plated The other appears to have some plating on it Were some plated others not? |

Can you post pictures of what you have? That would really help answer your question with some certainty.

Hood latch?
Some aftermarket latches were available only plated. NEVER Plated from Ford on the Model A that I'm aware. Joe K

Joe, I think he means the door latch on 28-29 open cars.

Re: Lever type latch on 28-29 open car
Prior to November, 1928, Ford did not put outside door handles on open cars (roadster, phaeton, some trucks). You reached in to open the door, and you used a lever-type handle that pointed straight up. It had a nickel-plated knob on the top of it.
The lever arm itself started out in production being nickel plated, through June, 1928. After that, it was painted black. If this is the part you are asking about, it is quite possible that you have collected an earlier one that was plated and a later one that was painted. See page 12-10 of the Restoration Guidelines. If this is not the part you are talking about, post a picture.

Re: Lever type latch on 28-29 open car
As Jim said, my 9-27-28 Phaeton has black arms and nickel plated knobs.
