B transmission
I have been looking at putting a B transmission behind my model A engine. my engine will be ready to pick up from the rebuilder in a week or two. So putting a B transmission in will be no problem. I have a friend who is running the B transmission behind his model A engine. With later 40 gears with synchromesh. I know there are other ways to get synchromesh (cling adapters -mitchell transmissions) Is there any way the B transmission is viable. Cost and not having to buy new bellhousing. Is a factor. any advise would be appreciated. Jerry

Re: B transmission
I have some questions for you, first....
1. When you say "Model A engine",..is it an "A" or a "B" ? 2. When you say "B transmission",...is it a " 4 cylinder B" or "V/8 Model B and later" ? 3. The oil pans are different(bolt pattern and rear seal) and also the bell housings. If your not sure,...post some photos.. |

Re: B transmission
If you are bolting a B trans to an A motor you will need a B flywheel housing and B flywheel or a lightened one. You also need a cover for the bottom of the flywheel housing. Wishbone mount needs addressed along with your clutch and brake pedal. Rear motor mounts also. I would look at your buddys to see what all he did.
