It does seem to run pretty good, it was very lacking in power when I bought it. I got to hear the engine start up cold and it didn't make any ugly noises.
The ignition points were set to less than .010, adjusted them to .018. Then I set the timing, it was running very retarded. That made an incredible difference in power, I think it can get out of it's own way now.

Current little project is making a felt pad to cover the floor, rubber mat will go over it. Material is $9.00 a yard at JoAnn's Fabric, a place my quilting wife spends a lot of money at. It was doubled over and the wife is sewing it together and reinforcing around the openings.

My wife is a quilter as well. Seems like there are quite a few of us here that have quilters in the family. Must be a good match.

Fits like a glove! The rubber mat will lay on top of the felt, this should help seal up the cab a bit from drafts and odors.

Art, Welcome to Fordbarn. A great looking coupe BTW. You will find that you will receive great advice here on the barn for your car. I have been a member for a few years now and I rarely post, but I visit the barn every day and, every day, I learn something new.

One thing that's going to have to be done, and it's going to put a big dent in my Model A budget, is new tires.
The tires don't appear to have lots of wear, but their age is showing. I'm not sure how much the cracking in the rubber indicates "impending doom", but it can't be good.

Those cracks look like they came from setting flat. That's one good reason to use jack stands for long term storage. One of my tires looked perfect but it went flat over the winter and now looks like your picture. Most of the winters I used jack stands, but two years ago I skipped it and now I've probably lost that tire.

Where do you all buy tires from? Are the $100 buck tires worth a hoot?

I bought a set of 5 Lucas 21" tires, plus tubes direct from Lucas last spring.

They seem fine, but only about 800 miles so far.

Makes sense Tom, thanks for the heads up. Winters here in the PNW are pretty mild as a rule, I'm hoping to keep driving in the winter time as weather permits. I put 7-8 miles on her yesterday!

And that would be the $99 specials?

Yes they were $99 each. I think with tubes, liners and shipping the total was around $660.

Talked to the folks at Lucas Tire, seemed like helpful folks.
Placed an order on-line, had shipping confirmation in 20 minutes! Since they are on the West coast as well, they predicted I'd have my tires/tubes/liners by Friday.

I like your video....!

I mounted my tires by myself. I used the method that mounts the wheel to the car and then replaces the tire. I cycled all the wheels/tires onto the left rear for the change.

Kinda like this:

As with everything Model A...the first one was tough, but the last one wasn't bad....use lots of lube!!

Bellingham.
Did some checking, looks like the closest chapter of the MAFCA is in Whidbey Island. 90+ miles.

Thanks Randy, I enjoy making videos.
I'm going to try and install the tires myself as well. Looks like it will be a good workout. Did you balance the wheels? Is it worth the effort?
