Default Iola 2017

We all just got back home from a wonderful Friday at the Iola car show. Our family drove three Model A's, a 31 pickup, 31 roadster, and a 30 coupe. There were oceans of cars to look at, and more than usual Model A parts. I managed to find several nice things, including a couple original Model A jacks and handles, nice original 28 radiator, (which passed the initial leak test after returning home). 28 hub caps, radiator badge, NOS rear spring shackle, slant pole coil, etc., etc. An added treat was the lovely Miss Wisconsin who was gracious enough to pose for a photograph. The only possible negative was a late afternoon rain shower. All in all, Iola '17 was good for Model A Fords.

Googled to find what state Iola is in...still don't know. BUT say article that a 1930 Chev was rear ended at that show when attempting a turn. MORE reason for additional 3rd brake lights added to classic cars whose main rear lights are lacking. Scares me anyway.

Tom: Nope, our cars weathered the storm OK. We had side curtains for the roadster. But thanks for asking. Paul: Iola is in north central Wisconsin. Sorry to hear about the 30 chevy accident. The traffic in iola is crazy during the show. Thousands of people and thousands of cars. Gotta be real careful out there.
Any more stories or photos about 2017 Iola show? Would love to see them posted......

I live 10 miles north of Minneapolis, and Iola, Wisconsin is 240 miles pretty much straight east of me.

Headed up with a friend who is a '32-'34 guy from Southeast Missouri. (this way we don't fight over parts ha ha) My first time at Iola. WOW!!! what a lot of Model A parts. I'm working on a '31 CCPU and the folks from Templins were wonderful with help and parts. The used Model A parts were every where and I had to be picky to keep from running out of money to soon. Found an original steel commercial cowl band. The guys at that booth were great to deal with. I got bedwood from a booth called "hole in the wall" he had "oodles of A parts and very nice to deal with . All in all a bunch of A parts went back to Missouri with me.

Many of the vendors were not so lucky. You could tell who the seasoned vendors were. They knew how to tie down there tents or coverings. Newbies not so fortunate. Lucky for the attendees, I only heard of one gentleman hurt. Lots of decent literature is now trashed.

yea i saw many vendors not expecting the monsoon rain and hail and just put boxes of paper stuff under their tables... Where I was there was a good 2-3" of water standing at one point during the 45* rain...

Hopefully the hurt guy is doing OK. Yes many many canopies collapsed BUT I saw plenty of help! Neighbors helping neighbors!

I brought my raincoat and Ziploc baggies to keep my phone dry and wallet dry in my pocket both days!

Here's another non A related photo from the show. Organizers of the show have done a good job keeping people interested. The main guys from the TV series bi*chin rides and Eddie Munster were there for the weekend taking pictures and signing autographs.

I've noticed a shift in the last few years from swap back to show. As the swap meet continues to thin out due to Internet sales, the show is regaining monentum. Saturday afternoon there was not an open show parking space on the grounds.

MARC also had a booth setup in the swap area to drum up interest and answer questions about becoming a member.
