Question 1940 Ford convertible color

I'm looking for some guidance on 1940 Ford convertible colors. I purchased a 1940 conv several years ago that had been restored and repainted some time back. The color of the car appears to be vermilion red. I can't find any evidence of any other color on the car - under the paint chips, under dash, inside of door panels etc. My question is could this be an original color for the car? Obvious sources such as "The 1940 Ford Book" from the Early Ford V8 Club do not list vermilion red as an original 1940 passenger color. Any ideas? Thanks.
