Default Model B manifold

Will a model b intake manifold work with a model a exhaust manifold that has a heater

The model B exhaust manifold was changed for an exhaust flow out at a near 45 degree angle back from the straight down out flow of the model A. If you use an accessory heater manifold for a model A on a B vehicle then the exhaust pipe would have to be modified to work. The frames of model B cars are a good bit different from the model A and may make this a challenge. If the model B engine is used in a model A car then the A manifold would be the best fit. Keep in mind that all these manifolds are old and have a tendency to droop at the outlet over time. The newer the exhaust manifold the better.

The intake manifold for the model A is a 1-inch bore while the B is 1 1/8". B manifolds aren't as plentiful as the A type. They both have a tendency to crack around the carburetor mount flange. An A manifold can be matched to a B carburetor by boring the passage or tapering it to match. The model A manifolds are available new so they may be a better choice to modify. The B manifold should work but the upper portion of the casting is a bit different than the model A and has a squared off appearance in the center T junction with the runners to the engine block. I guess it depends on how the heater duct cover for the top of the exhaust manifold is designed. There were several manufacturers of these set ups.

Note; the B eng used in 33/34 vehicles had a Model A type exhaust manifold. Newc

The Model 40/46 cars manifold was basically the same as the model A type but it had the 46-9430 casting mark. Model As can be found with this manifold since it was the factory replacement for the model A part and superseded it in service part inventories. The 1932 model B was unique and that makes it rare in the modern era.
