How many of you are working on a 1932 Ford ?
Lets meet the 32' Ford guy's,...
I have a Coupe, and a Roadster I'm working on,.... I have built Traditional Hot Rods for a long time,.... these are no exception. So what are you working on?

Ive collected parts for a few years to build a 1932 5w coupe.
Waiting to go together...  And also an Original V8 Chassis.... Waiting for an Original STOCK body....and restoration.

Well, if you are considering "non-stock" 32s, I have a former 5-window that had it's roof cut off, windshield chopped, and a f-glass lift-off top made. It also came with a dead flattie and 3-speed, stock rear, later FE, and juice brakes all around. I am very near completion of an early 50s styled hot rod, something a hot rodder from that time period would have built on a limited budget, with most all parts '53 and older but with a few exceptions such as a 5-speed, dual MC, and setup to 12-volt.

I'm building a Brookville-bodied nailhead-powered deuce roadster with a Tremec 5-speed and a Winters QC. '37 Ford steering column and '48 Ford truck brake/clutch pedal assembly. Hopefully finished next Spring.

Fell in love with the Deuce in 1986 when I got my 3wnd, I was still in high school.
I have owned over 30 Deuces since then. Still have my 3 wnd a couple 5wnds,a couple sedans and pickups. Always working on one of them. Kelly

Walter did a B400 conversion for me about 5/6 years ago and the workmanship was very good. The car you see in the pictures is an even better job. He just gets better with every conversion. Kowalsky Kustoms www.walterscars.5u.com that is the last web address I have for him. I'm finishing my 30 year project 3 window and have a sedan delivery waiting in the wings, gennie roadster body and frame, a stock cab PU about 1/2 done and a 348 powered Brookville Highboy ready for paint and interior. I'll never live long enough to get it all finished.

That B400 was built by Everett Grey in ILL. I sold mine unfinished to a man in WI. He has it about 75% done. I had to many irons in the fire so some of my projects had to go. Sold my Vicky and B400. As stated in the earlier post I have enough deuces to last as long as I want to build cars.

I have 2 current 32 projects and a long line of built/sold or bought/sold 32's going back 45 years. A have never been much of a picture taker and now regret not having taken photos of many of the cars I've had. Doing better now though.

I bought this 7 years ago after seeing it the first time 30 years before when I was in high school. The original owner worked at the Ford plant in Long Beach. He bought the car in Detroit and drove it to Long Beach. When they shut the Long Beach plant down in the mid fifties he retired and sold the car to a friend of mine, Paul Baker. Paul pulled the 4 banger and put in a '53 Cad engine. It stayed like that until the late '60s when he put a 351 and C-6 in it.
When I first saw it in his garage in '72 the 351 was in it and it was running on propane. There was a tank in the trunk. Paul took the car apart shortly after that and it stayed in pieces until he sold it to me in '03. The chassis is done and the body is at the painter. |

Hi Whitey
It's a Gear Vendors unit that I adapted to the transmission. The adapter is just forward of the O/D and looks to be about 1 1/2" long. It is actually 3 1/2 inches but most is inside the transfer case adapter. Maybe it'll run in another month or so. Here's some pics of the adapter and coupler. The transmission is a Jeep T-176 case, with Ford toploader 4 speed gears. One of the pics shows the Jeep transfer case adapter converted for use with the GV unit. Hope this makes a bit of sense. It's all untried at this point. Jim |

Here's a shot of mine several years ago......
 .....and here it is more recently as I try to finish all my half-started metal work......    It's only been 28 years, why should I rush now. I sold a 5w body back in the spring so it's given me an influx of cash to buy all the big ticket items needed to finish this thing.....

Heres my roadster that has almost gone full circle...
It was hot rodded back in the sixties and then crashed in the early seventies and redone in the style of the time..  Couple years later it was stripped and hacked about quite badly, it then sat about for 20 ish years before i got this in '97  This is how it sits now, just last few bits to finish, waiting on my ignition coming back so I can fire it up!

I'm building a '32 roadster, I found a complete rolling chassis and found a rebuilt flathead & tranny and got all the other traditional pieces, although I have a Brookville roadster body. Wish I had enuff money for a real roadster body!

Here is a shot of mine..I bought it last year at around this time.It is a Right hand drive model, deluxe V8.It has recently been bare metaled and repainted.I have fitted chopped posts and screen,BLC head lights and dropped the h/lamp bar,lowered it a tad and fitted dual exhausts with Porter mufflers.The car came with a couple of gallons of ethanol that had gone bad and it ruined the fuel pump diaphram,the fuel hose and the carb..so new items were fitted.The original wheels were changed and the spare wheel mount removed and replaced with an original spreader bar.The body is in perfect condition with zero rust found when stripped back.Awaiting a slot at the trim shop for a roof to be covered and the seat squab lowered.When the weather improves I`ll get around to fitting a set of hydraulic brakes to it and getting it lowered a tad more.

Here's my banger Tudor found near Saginaw, MI last year about this time. It was sitting for about 50 years in barn and then in a small garage. Bought it from the grandson of the original owner.
I am hot roddin' it just a little bit but trying not to destroy what time has done to it.....

I just finished the 3w, its at the interior shop now. Next is the RPU that I bought from Krylon32, He had too many projects and I didn't. The 3W has a 350/400. The RPU has a 350/5speed/Winters Quickchange. Plans are to have it ready for Summer for cross country trip. Dale

Well how about the catagory of "in a few months....."
I am finishing a 31 Chevy Landau Phaeton that I am keeping stock, and from there I have a dilema. I have a 32 Aussie tub that would go together fast even though I have to get a frame for it, but have most everything sheet metal accept firewall, hood, grille and insert. The other potential item is a 32 Roadster that I have yet to purchase, but spoke with the owner about this weekend at the Back to the 50's in St Paul. The basket isnt to big, and I am trying to see if I can either work him down on the price, or trade my 33 Chevy Standard 3 Window as partial trade. So I hope by the end of July I will be working on one or the other.

Some of us have never got over our obsession with the 1932 Frod. The picture on the left is me and my 1932 Ford in 1970 and the one on the right is my 1932 Ford today. The one I have now is actually a lot better than the one I had in 1970.

here my truck. i started with just a cab, then slap some rails together. ive got the 40 center x mounted and motor in place. has a 50 ford bored and stroked backed by an open drive 3 speed.

Thought about a '32 Roadster in 1961......I had an original grill & shell on the wall for 40 years...so, that's a start and, better late than never.
My project is the theme of a 1956 high school kid, obtaining an original Roadster and souping it up a bit. Obtained many parts in the last 4 years, all have to be original Ford parts ( ok brookville body for now ) and absolutely nothing pass the '56 year. The updated parts have to be as little as possible, even the original motor mounts used.....a kid's budget then had to be well diciplined....in todays world, we have to grin & bear it on paying for the same parts. The old speed equipment, '97's, L-Z gears, banjo steering wheel, K-H 40 spokes, etc, all add to the fun. Great to see the pictures you guys send in, especially the primered and rusty colored ones. |

Who dropped the headlight bar.....donO.....but it was bad. I picked up a total of 3 dropped '32 headlight bars, and non of them were properly done. So, I obtained an original bar, made a jig, reworked them to the proper fender bracket stance and angle, also reshaped the drop to be able to mount the original headlamps. ( not smaller aftermarket buckets ) I guess a lot of this old stuff is not to the quality that we do today. It was a lot of work doing it, but very satisfying at the end. The nice part of this subject on 'working on a '32 Ford' is the love we have of actually building this car. Enjoying every minute of it....Robert |

The car has an uncut original frame , Dropped Axle w/un-split wishbone ,a 39 trans a 40 rear end . Basically what Dad wanted was a 50's Hot Rod . About 25 years ago he decided to put a 65 Corvette 365 hp 327 in the car instead of the Flatty . I put it together with what I had but it will get a Flat motor before long . She deserves it ! I have some cool stories of the parts on the car and where they came from . I may do a thread on it someday when I have time . Enjoy ! |

1932V8......I was at the Father's Day Reunion in Pomona, I sat on the bench facing your car....looked at the different colors and said to myself.."Would be interesting to find out the story on this car". Someone commented on the dropped headlight bar on my project ( even got e-mails on it ) and I did notice that you had a '32 dropped headlight bar that fitted the original headlamps.....and said to myself...."now there's a bar that seems to fit right". Story on this car would be very interesting...do it. A picture is worth a thousand words, but imagination on this car is worth a million. Enjoy and please share........Robert

WOW, some nice 32's!! Being a '33/'34 guy, I really never liked the 32 but when they are done closer to the way Henry rolled em off the line, they are beautiful! Not into the glass '32 street rods! A street rodded 32 really kills the look...in reality, street rods kill the look of many old Fords... and the '32 has been murdered many times over! Keep up the nice clean work fellas!

My brother bought it and tore it apart back in '57. Here it is on the street first time since he dragged it home.
 A couple of days later, the body got placed on the frame. (Yes, I am a slob, but all that stuff had to be dug out to get the body out of the back shed.)

Have a 32 Model B truck I've had for a couple years, starting to do the research on where to get any needed parts. Mostly just trim stuff, truck is pretty complete and orignal for the most part, some stuff needs to be fixed or replaced, going to see about getting in running in the next few months.

There is a number on the left frame rail on the top flange near the steering box area. There is another one on the top flange of the right rail in the area above the rear axle or just behind. That one may be kind of faint due to rust ect. Both numbers are on the top of the frame rails.

Great thread HW, here are my two Deuces. The 3W runs a 289ci blown 8BA/5 speed and the pre WWII roadster runs a souped up 37 21 stud, 39 trans and 32 rear
Just did the 39 trans swap after the earlier trans chucked a wobbly

Some day, some how I am going to own a 32 Ford before I croak I hope. I even though about going back to work, trading a couple of cars and even a few dogs. I have been saving a few bucks for a 32. I just lease some gas rights that will help for this. If you ever know of a original one for sale please let me know. BUT don't tell my wife about this.

I have a 3 window body that is getting real close to being removed from its old trashed frame and put on a body rotissori. Will be glass beading the entire body and ready for patch pannels and repop floors .

I had posted on my avatar awhile back on this thread but I've also acquired a very rough 5-window body that will be a Buick nailhead/T5Z 5-speed, Hot rod works banjo rear - a late 50s/early 60s styled car. All I'm doing now is parts gathering as there are two projects to complete beforehand (and sell to acquire the $$ required to complete this one) but I am looking forward to the build none the less ....

With the roadster done I have been doing a mechanical rebuild on this once owned by Neal East five window. Taking a little longer than expected having two shoulder surgeries this past spring.

Finally found a decent one that I could afford.
59AB, 37 trans and rear, 37 x-member, no rust floor, some older qtr patch panels, filled roof, nice grille and shell, tank, firewall, dash, wood, pretty good fenders and boards, etc. Plans are: get it running, early Ford brakes, dropped axle, F-1 box, 16" steelies or KH's. I recently acquired a car I painted 35 years ago. Still unfinished, it will be easy to put on the road. 59a, Lincoln brakes, 39 trans zephyr gears, 3.54s.

Yes, it sat inside out of the sun. The color is early GM Tahitian Red lacquer. 52 Pontiac tail lights. |

This one I have been working on for a year or so an older restration that had many problems from a bad motor to brakes and electrical issues, we just put in a new transmission with all new NOS gears it is becoming a very nice driver.

I would like to have a 32 three window coupe and should have got one several years ago. I could trade my 39 conv., 35 Pickup, 50 Christliner and a dog or two for one. Wife just bought me another house with 4 big garages. Every time I talk about a 32 she makes a bad face then tells me to shut up. Somethings a fellow must do without I guess.

Just sold a 32 roadster, got a 5 window for sale,(google Bruce Elder Stanton Va. he's got the car). Have a 32 2 door sedan I've had for years. I am finishing a 32 sedan, with a 2" in. chop, flathead and a lot of neat "Old stuff" on it. HELP, HELP,HELP! I need both door latches. Does anyone have a set they might sell or know where I can find some? They are not reproduced. Car is almost finished! Help! Bobby G.

Finally got my Steering back in the 32. Also has the dash and door frame redone. Getting close getting it as I want it. But never done I guess.

I have a 32 pickup truck flathead v8. Duce heaven said ford did not put v8s in pickups but I have seen at least 3 that looked bad enough to be original. Does anybody know for sure?my pickup is fairly complete and correct as far as I can tell.

It's a bit complicated because of the way Ford recorded its '32 model year production of what we think of as being a pickup truck. Unlike all of the rest of that year's commercial vehicle production where whole units (complete chassis and body as one) were recorded, only the three major components (B-76 open cabs or B-82 closed cabs, B-78 pickup (beds), and 106" wheelbase chassis that make up a pickup were recorded.
Except for the station wagon, where over 300 were build as V8s, the rest of V8 commercial vehicle production ranged from one to two digits' worth reflecting the late release of the engine for most commercial vehicles and trucks. However given that all the non-pickup commercial vehicles had at least some that were V8s and the chassis only total includes V8s as well, the strong probability is that a few of what we today call a '32 pickup were built with V8 engines. Similarly, to claim that there were none cannot be substantiated with Ford's production records. |

I have this one in the pipeline.
BV body, gennie frame with 34 X member and rear crossmember, rebuilt but stock 59AB, 37 trans and rearend. An old rod, save the BV body, built back when. It originally had a TUDOR body on it, but I swapped it for the Brookville. See post #164, when I first got it. Kept the title, firewall, all the running gear, wiring, brakes, floor boards, gas tank. fenders and running boards. Also got a new seat, new top irons and dash in the deal. The older I get the slower I get. Maybe I will get done before I cash in? I am changing the brake shoes now with the correct brake lining. Glad the plates are for life. Had it for 7 years and only put 11 miles on it. I am trying to keep it original as Henry built it.

I'm working on my 32 roadster, car sat for 11 years. House renovation, bad hip, everything else is a priority, always on the back burner. The fuel tank went south big time, trying to get it out so I can restore it (again), won't budge, I think it's stuck on the webbing. So, no excuses, it's time to get it back on the road.
I'm also working on my 3W which has turned into a lifetime project, it is TEN times the work (fun) load. |

Great looker! Mine was Washington Blue (mostly) when I used it my last college year in Milwaukee (1964). Still have it, though not too many more miles.
