early carb, GAV needle seat
Is there a gasket used on the screw in GAV needle seat used on the early carbs?

Yes, the early brass GAV needle seat uses a small gasket the same as is used under the main, comp, and cap jets. The idle jet is a small pipe thread and does not use a gasket. Be sure not to mix the GAV seat with the comp jet. They look very much alike. Also remember to install the GAV seat before you install the GAV assembly.

The thread form on all the jets is metric. The thread form is metric M5-.75.
The reason the idle jet does not need a gasket is because it has a tapered shoulder that seats against the cast iron upper body. Toms point on not getting the GAV seat and the comp jet interchanged is important, I have seen too many rebuilds with a GAV seat installed where the comp jet belongs.
