"Belting the Vic"

I have an early 1931 Victoria, and I ran across this interesting "Belting the Vic" article, by Tom Endy, a while back. http://www.santaanitaas.org/wp-conte...s-Victoria.pdf As I understand it, the floorboard in the Victoria is unique because it is recessed, rather than flat.

It looks like 60" belts would be long enough for front seat use. According to the article, Tom Endy purchased his belts from http://www.buckle-up.net/, but I don't see the exact model that he has in his article.

Can anyone share a link to a seat belt that works well with the Victoria?

Also, the article pictures a late Victoria seat back rest plate.

However, my seat back rest plate is more symmetrical. (My car doesn’t have a rectangular piece of metal welded to it, as depicted in the picture.) The article also pictures a fabricated "platform," which presumably provides a "perch" for the rear seat support.

Is that "platform" needed? Maybe it's only needed on the late Victorias? My passenger seat (without seat belts) does not appear to need the fabricated "platform." Am I missing something?

Can anyone share their experience adding seat belts to a Victoria?

That is an “awesome” “feature” of Tapatalk. ;-)

I created the post on my desktop PC with the correct title, “Belting the Vic,” the name of Tom Endy’s article. I later edited the post in Tapatalk, and Tapatalk fouled up the post title during the re-post. I don’t see a way to fix it.

Tapatalk replaced the double quotes with HTML equivalent codes.

Shew, the center support plate pictured has the tab attached to support the sliding seat rail. The rail is riveted to the tab. Your leatherback Victoria would probably not have the sliding driver's seat and would not have the tab.

Ahh... That makes better sense. I had read about a sliding seat in a late Victoria a while back, but I’ve never seen one. My seat is only adjustable using a thumbscrew that lets you position the seat in one of three holes in the stationary seat rail.
