1936 ford engine bay
guys,
I am building a 36 ford tudor sedan. What goes in the vertical holes (around 1/2" in diameter) on each side of the firewall? I didn't count how many there were on each side, but probably 4 or 5??? thanks, Al |

Re: 1936 ford engine bay
Al, looks like you're starting at square one with this one. For starters, there's the large hole at center for the harness & vacuum line to the wiper motor. Choke on pass side, throttle on driver side. You may have had an aftermarket hot water heater, which would have two holes. A hole for the speedo cable, screw holes for mounting footfeed lever, ignition resistor, speedo clamp and gas line , and mount holes for the firewall insulation pushpins.
You would do well to buy the 35-36 Ford book from the EFV8CA, Also available from the Foundation as well as the major parts suppliers. Pictures and text, the 36 Ford bumper to bumper.

There are rubber plugs that go in the 3 holes in each side of the cowl. I believe they're to prevent the rear side of the hood from contacting the cowl. I found them in MAC'S book as part of a 26-piece Hood Rubber Bumper Set, MAC'S p/n 68-16761-S, $8.75/set.

Re: 1936 ford engine bay
Their is a 35/36 Ford Restoration info BOOK available from most Parts suppliers that gives loads of helpful info & pics that help alot. It includes a pic of the cowl with decription of what each hole is for. The various heater holes are not shown. It even shows which way to run the wire thru the Amp Meter slot so it will read correctly. Very useful Book to determine part correctness ie. Waterfall etc. I got mine through the Ford V8 Club.
