Default NEW Stromberg electronic dizzy

well last week I got my new Stromberg electronic dizzy for my '35 roadster and thought I would stick some pics of it up. its very well made and feels quite heavy, I guess no heavier than the dizzy I'm using, the Lucas commercial dizzy with no vac advance. I decided to go with the Stromberg one because parts for the lucas dizzy are getting really hard to find now and I'm not convinced the lucas dizzy is performing as it should be.

I have tried it on the car yet, need to buy some new plug leads to suit as the ones I have aren't suitable for electronic ignition. All in all though I'm really happy with it and cant wait to try it, maybe wont be driving for a while due to the weather but hopefully it wont be too long.

and on the back is the advance/retard adjustment through this screw. out the box they come with 4 degrees static advance at idle with a further 22 degrees maximum advance at 2600rpm.

Nice looking piece of equipment, let us know how well it works. Is it 6 volt or 12?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but who makes these? Is it "Clive", the guy who makes the carburetors, by chance?

Just checked the website given in post #7 and that answers my question on 6V. Now I'm wondering about cost in GBP/USD?
I'm thinking if Clive is building these, the quality will be there. JMO

Clive is indeed building these. When considering 90% of all carburetor problems are ignition related, and vice versa, it seemed only natural to augment my role as US warranty provider for the carbs as the US warranty guy for the new distributors.
I'm thinking, as with the carbs, I'll be severely underworked...

f there is no vacuum advance, it's not as good as what it replaces. No Load control.

Good point. I don't see where it would go, at least on these pictures.

Ron the Lucas dizzy I have doesn't have vacuum advance either. The Lucas unit is LV6/MT8 with a part no. of 411052.
