Flywheel ring gear
Can a flywheel ring gear be removed and put on another flywheel? If so what is the best method? Thanks for all responses. Ray

You will need to heat the gear. Do your best to do so evenly and try not to get it any hotter than necessary. You will be surprised at how little heat it takes to expand and subsequently remove that ring. Installation is just the opposite of removal of course. I might suggest you have the "new" flywheel prepared and in close proximately to the "old" flywheel. You may be fortunate enough to remove it from the old and place it directly upon the "new". If not, no worry... simply apply that heat again, Remember, apply the heat evenly and as little as necessary.

Re: Flywheel ring gear
Before heating and swapping your ring gear mark the location of you ring gear on your flywheel using your dowel pin holes for location. Now go to the flywheel your moving it to and by using the dowel pin holes locate the same location as the other flywheel, remove your ring gear with little heat, turn your ring gear a quarter turn, now heat it a little, and then it will fall on,make sure it seats all the way around against the flywheel. The reason you want to relocate the location of the ring gear,is your engine only stops at two locations,so when you start you engine its always at the one of the two locations on your ring gear.Hope this helps.E.P.W.
