Question 1936 Ford Slantback Sedan

Guys,
I have a 36 sedan that has some outlines (rusty areas) on the back of the car and makes me think that the outline might have been for a set of luggage racks, or something like that. Does anyone know if they had luggage racks in those days? The lines are around the outside perimeter of the back...any ideas?

There were luggage racks for the 36 Ford. The spare tire fit behind the luggage rack.

It may have been one of the aftermarket "trunks" that fit flush against the body that caused the outlines if they are around the perimeter. They basically looked somewhat molded to the back of the body and had doors to facilitate storage of items in the added space. JMO. Al

Oh, it was an enclosed luggage rack? I actually thought about building a nice looking tubular rack like you get nowadays and either painting or plating it...what do you think?
